iPhone dying before you can get back to a charger? Check out the Rokit Boost Excess 2400 battery case: rated 5 stars on Amazon, this iPhone 5 / 5S case includes one of the largest capacity case batteries on the market, protecting your phone and providing up to 130% more battery juice to get you through the day (or weekend)!
Rokit Boost Excess 2400 Case Review
We read countless reviews and interviewed a friend with a Rokit Boost in researching this review. One common thread: this case kicks butt. It’s durable and loaded with enough battery power to more than double your phone’s battery life. Best of all, it is priced well under $100.
We were impressed!
Let’s dig into the juicy details…
Rokit’s 2400 mAh lithium battery promises a 130% boost to battery life – that’s more than double. It’s like adding a full second battery, plus 30% more.
As an example, if you’re currently getting 14 hours out of your iPhone 5S, the Rokit Boost will add another 18.2 hours at similar usage.
When your phone is running low, charge your phone from the case’s battery, press the button on the back and hold for 3 seconds. Your phone will beep and start charging. Charging stops automatically when your phone is fully charged.
You can also stop the phone from charging from the case battery by pressing the button on the back again for 3 seconds. Charging is quick.
Manufacturer promises 500 charge cycles.
This battery case is MFI certified (unlike some battery cases). MFI certification means the case contains the Apple charging connector ID chip and won’t stop working or become invalidated by future Apple iOS updates.
The Excess 2400 iPhone 5 Battery Case includes a 1-year warranty from Rokit Boost.
Charging your Phone & Case
You’ll need to use Rokit’s Micro USB cable to charge and sync your iPhone and case, but you can sync and charge your iPhone without removing the Rokit case. Micro USB is ubiquitious – there’s a good chance you already have some devices that use this standard.
1 Micro USB cable is included with the Rokit Boost Excess 2400 Case.
When you plug in your iPhone / Boost case, it will charge your phone battery to full first, and then it will charge the battery case. Both charge at typical speeds.
Construction & Hand Feel
The Rokit Boost is incredibly slim for a battery case – we couldn’t believe it had a battery in it! This is doubly impressive because it’s adding more than a second battery to your phone. That said, Rokit Boost Excess does add a little heft – about 3 ounces of weight. Not a lot, but it will make your phone noticeably thicker. The backside is a grippy, soft rubber.
The case adds a thin “bumper” around the edge of the screen to protect your phone in case you drop it or lay it face down.
We liked the exchangeable color bumpers: there’s a “white” Rokit Boost case and a “black” Rokit Boost case, and both come with four bumpers. The “white” set comes with white, clear, translucent red, and translucent pink. The “black” set comes with translucent black, solid black, white, and translucent red.
All of the ports, cameras, and controls of the phone are cut out and available.

Rokit Boost 2400 Cons/Drawbacks
Like many charger cases, the Rokit Boost requires you to use an adapter to plug in your headphones. The adapter is included and it looks like the shortest headphone cord ever (basically two plugs attached by a very short headphone wire).
Leaving the adapter attached to your headphones is one good workaround, unless you have multiple sets of headphones (say, a set at home and a set at the office), in which case you may want to leave it attached to the case, carry it with you, or buy a second one.
LED Light Show
For some reason, Rokit includes LED lights on the backside of the case. They illuminate and blink when the phone is charging. We get it – the LED lights are there to show you how much charge the case battery has, but we think it’s unnecessary to have this light show going on when you’re charging your phone.
If you let it charge overnight in your bedroom as you sleep, you’ll have to get used to tossing something over the lights. The lights don’t light up during normal use, only when plugged in.
Hey Rokit – give us a way to disable the LED lights!
The Final Word
If you need more battery juice in your iPhone 5 or iPhone 5S, you cannot go wrong with the Rokit Boost Excess 2400.
