We love power packs – who wouldn’t enjoy being able to fully recharge a tablet or smartphone while on the road or in the middle of a long flight?
In this review, we’re going to look specifically at the very popular New Trent iCarrier IMP120D power pack for smartphones and tablets.
This rugged 5V@2A-1A dual USB external battery charger carries enough juice to recharge your phone(s) and/or tablet(s) a good 6+ times on a single charge. That 20+ hour flight won’t be quite so bad when you can watch a few movies on a single charge.

New Trent iCarrier (IMP120D) Review
Instant Family Favorite
Imagine being able to do a mid-day (or mid-weekend) recharge of your family’s smartphones and tablets anywhere you go! Most users find they can charge several iPads/iPhones from a single fully-charged New Trent iCarrier power pack. Charging is fairly quick, and the iCarrier can charge two devices simultaneously, making squabbles over who gets to use it first a bit less likely. (Pro tip: Mom gets it first.)
The New Trent iCarrier IMP120D is rugged and durable, built sturdily and as if the designers knew it was going to be stuffed into carry-on luggage and tossed around by security. It’s also a beefy battery, at 12,000mAh (more than many competitors). All of these advantages come with two distinct costs, though: one, it’s heavy. It’s not going to ride along in your pocket and probably not even your backpack. Two, it takes a while to charge up. Since the battery is so big, it needs a couple hours to charge via USB.
For device compatibility, you can’t beat the New Trent iCarrier IMP120D. If you’re using phones or tablets by major manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Nokia, Sony, etc, you won’t have any compatibility issues.
Keep in mind, though, that you need to BYOC (bring your own cables). As long as your charge cable has a USB plug on one end to plug into the New Trent iCarrier, you’re golden.
Some reviewers point out too-bright on-body lights, and we agree – anything more than a pinlight is overkill. Plan on tossing a sweater over this charger when it’s time to sleep.
Great for: Flying, camping, road trips, National Parks, Disney World
This under 3 minute review by YouTube user Tom Rich shows the New Trent iCarrier in great detail:
For less than $40, the New Trent iCarrier IMP120D is a no-brainer. Even if you’re not going that far from civilization, being able to pop over to your car and re-charge your phone mid-day can be a lifesaver. We highly recommend the New Trent iCarrier power pack.
